HOW THE FILM WAS MADE
The script for Billboard has been around for about two years. The first draft was very different to the version we shot, but the characters were pretty much the same, except in the original the character of Danny was a boxer.
The night I screened ‘Swimming in circles’ I got the funding to make Billboard. Things got off to a slow start until my Producer Nathalie came on board, that’s when things really started to come together. She was amazing and did 99% of the pre production all on her own, which left me to storyboard and make any script changes that needed to be made.
We started shooting on June 8th and continued right the way through to the 15th. There was lots more locations in this film than Swimming as well as some driving stuff, which I had never shot before. We shot on two cameras the Sony EX3 and the Sony V1E, both high quality HD cameras. The whole shoot was amazing and one of the best weeks off my life.
